Showering is no problem for me. It's putting some make up on, drying my hair and actually getting dressed for the day that I rarely find time for. So, I feel frumpy all day. I usually try to put some mascara and lip gloss on before Brian comes home and sometimes I even change out of my "lounge clothes" just so he doesn't think I'm lazy. Taking care of two kids under two really slices into the "me time." No complaints...it's just challenging sometimes.
Today I decided to leave all the little "Emmy messes" alone till this evening. She's changed her pants 3 times now and clothes are all over her room, she's dragged practically all her books down the hall and they are acting like stepping stones for me, all her dolls are strewn about the front room and blankets cover the floors. I just don't have the energy to pick everything up - over and over and over.
Bailey has been really fussy today and has required more holding time than usual. I LOVE holding her, but while doing so I created a few messes of my own...spaghettio's on the kitchen floor, milk on the counter and Emmy's snacks spilled all over the tile (rolling every which way).
Needless to say, my house is a mess today and I feel like I am too. I finally put Bailey in her crib, where I know she is safe, and let her cry for a bit while I rocked Emmy and put her down for a nap. NOW, I can't believe it, both are asleep at the same time! Who knows how long it will last. I should be napping or cleaning, doing my hair or even paying some attention to my dogs, but instead, today I felt like doing a little "venting" to all of you before I loose myself in the world wide web...I'll be searching for birthday ideas for Emmy, ways to decorate my dream house, crafts I want to make but who knows when I'll get time, maybe I'll plan a dream vacation, find some dinner ideas...all while I listen to some Michael Buble on Pandora and wonder if there are any other mother's who get as overwhelmed as I do (but hide it really well).

Amen. I am overwhelmed at least once every day....at least once a week I'm overwhelmed so much that I cry. The cleaning "over and over and over" is a killer. Especially when Eli and Keith are right behind me, undoing what I just did. *sigh* There IS all the good stuff that makes you forget the hard stuff....but when the hardstuff all happens with a vengeance, it can be rough. Take care kiddo! You're doing good.
U are super amazing!!!! Super super fantastically amazing!!!
i felt like i just read my life (plus one!). isn't it great? keep on keepin' on - you are doing great!
You are not alone, my friend. :-) (...And by the way, you hide it really well too!) Love ya!
Sandy-everyone and I mean EVERYONE has times like this. Believe me it will get easier the older your girlies get. It's OK to have messes-that means you are letting your kids be kids. Love them and savor them because before you know it they will be almost teenagers.
i think you summed up most of my days....I am baffled at how people have more than 2 children and keep sane, lol!! It's cuz they are so cute, that keeps us going!!!
Oh boy! I am a very overwhelmed mother a lot of the time! I don't hide it well though! :)
Your blog is so fun Sandy! So glad I clicked for an update on the beautiful Degasser girls! Can't wait to get together one of these days!
